Joel Parkinson has been title contender since he first set foot on the Foster’s ASP World Tour in 2001. His conquests have been massive and at numerous times in his career he has been lodged firmly in the top three. The gregarious Aussie with the contagious grin has talent to burn, now hosts some of surfing’s biggest and most prestigious trophies in his living room. Long heralded as one of the greatest natural talents to come out of Oz, "Parko" is the epitome of style and grace blending beautiful carves and progressive maneuvers with seamless flow. Parkinson constantly pushes the envelope of high performance surfing along with good friends Mick Fanning and Dean Morrison. In 2006 Parkinson’s star shone brightly and at one point at the Billabong Pro in Mundaka was the only one who could have ousted Slater from his mantel. He faltered in awkward conditions but the result was enough to ignite a competitive fire which urged him into a year end win at the O’Neill World Cup at Sunset Beach. The second Parkinson can string together back to back wins he’ll be unstoppable.
